Professional statement

Lani Pawar is a Licensed Psychoanalyst located in New York, NY who is passionate about helping young adults and mid-career professionals feel less stuck in their lives. She works with individuals who feel that they aren’t satisfied and want to improve their quality of life. Many successful individuals struggle with balancing their personal and professional lives. They seek therapy to work on self-care, reconnect with themselves and break out of old patterns. Some struggle with anxiety, depression, and low-self esteem and seek a greater sense of calm or contentment in their lives. Lani has extensive experience working with parents and those who are going through major life transitions, including career progression or burnout.

Lani’s approach to therapy draws from psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapy, which takes an in-depth and curious approach to the inner mind to better understand thoughts, emotions, and ideas. Psychoanalysis can help you better understand yourself, improve how you function in your daily life and how you relate to others. Lani guides clients through deep introspection, increasing self-awareness so they can more effectively communicate their needs and align their lives around those needs. She also practices Object Relations Therapy and attachment-based therapy, offering clients skills to improve their relationships with others and create greater meaning and fulfillment in their lives.

Lani earned a Master’s degree from the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. She is certified in Psychoanalysis and has nearly 10 years of experience working with clients. When working with Lani, clients learn more about themselves and use that knowledge to feel more connected to others and to their authentic selves.

Message to clients

My approach to therapy is to create an accepting and non-judgmental space where you feel seen, heard and understood. When you feel seen, heard and understood, interesting developments can happen. You begin to feel more connected within yourself and are able to connect more deeply with others. You can break old patterns that do not always serve you. You stop operating on autopilot, develop more ways of being in the world and expand your emotional range. As you gain insight and better understand yourself, you feel more empowered to make constructive choices in your life.

Meaningful and lasting change doesn't happen overnight. The psychoanalytic method is an in-depth therapy that gets to the root of the problem. It's also an act of self-care, emotional nourishment and self-discovery. Psychoanalysis is a process of becoming who you were meant to be. It helps you get in touch with your authentic self, feel your feelings more fully and be a more fully alive human being. We'll work together through difficult emotions, major life changes, creating healthier relationships and a life that you are happy to call your own.

Choosing a therapist you feel comfortable working with is an important decision. To ensure a good fit, come meet with me in-person. Should our first meeting not result in us working together for any reason, I'll waive the fee.
