She also has advanced training in the areas of anxiety disorders, major depression, and relational issues.
Leonna is trained in Satir, CBT, Narrative, Humanistic, Strength based, Attachment, and Holistic therapies. These treatment approaches examine a variety of areas such as attachment style, family of origin history, language style/ways a person communicates, core beliefs, and self-esteem. Clients can explore what is working and beneficial to their wellbeing and what needs to be improved, healed or released in order to make space for healthier beliefs and behaviors. In session, Leonna focuses on active listening exercises, breathing exercises, grounding tools, journaling, book recommendations, worksheets, articles, and psycho-education. These modalities support clients in reaching their goals, feeling more aligned with their core beliefs and values, and being more confident in their decision making. Clients also feel more at ease with themselves and others.
Leonna's style is thoughtful, transparent, and engaging. When clients first start therapy, Leonna works to create an emotionally safe, comfortable and non-judgmental therapeutic alliance with her clients.
Leonna received her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. She has worked at local community centers, serving individuals, families, couples, teens and children. Outside of private practice, she enjoys reading, game nights with friends, exercising and baking for her family.
