Professional statement

Madeline Watkins is a mental health therapist offering telehealth therapy sessions to Florida and Indiana. She works with preteens - adults and in addition to private practice, has 25 years of experience working with adolescents in a school setting. She has advanced training in the area of Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and is a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP). Most of Maddi’s clients come to address OCD and related disorders.

Maddi is trained in Inference Based CBT (ICBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Com-B, and Habit Reversal Training (HRT). Other non-specific OCD therapeutic interventions include Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting , Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). She integrates therapeutic approaches in order to tailor personalized client treatment plans, meeting clients where they are and allowing them to feel supported and understood.

Maddi's style is warm, non-judgmental, and personable. When clients first start therapy, she works to understand the client's goals and establish a relaxed atmosphere, as well as provide psychoeducation.

Maddi received her Masters in Educational Counseling from Indiana State University in 1996 and in 2007 earned her LMHC and began a private practice. She loves the beach, spending time with family, and her cats.

Message to clients

I was born in Hollywood FL and adopted by my parents, who lived in New York City. We moved to the Indianapolis area when I was very small, and it was there that I grew up an only child. As a child/teen, I struggled with pre-verbal trauma, belonging, anxiety, school stress, and family dynamics. This led me to an interest in pursuing psychology.

Throughout my career, I noticed a large increase in anxiety disorders, which led me to focus on anxiety as my specialty. I have dedicated my professional development to continuing to learn the latest and most effective evidenced-based interventions for anxiety and OCD. This knowledge, in addition to the bond I create with my clients, provides a space where you can end the cycle of anxious thinking that controls your life.

People say that I am easy to talk to and they quickly feel comfortable. Whether you are someone who has tried therapy before, or if the idea of therapy is scary and overwhelming, I invite you to meet me during my free initial consultation. I have known a wide variety of people from all different backgrounds and life experiences, both in my practice as well as personally. The most important thing to me is that you do not feel judged and that we meet collaborative goals that allow you to enjoy your life.
