Professional statement

Marisa Mohrer offers 60 minute ongoing sessions and specializes in half day therapy intensives. A therapy intensive is an efficient and comprehensive pathway to heal trauma in consecutive days instead of over many years in weekly therapy, and can accelerate symptom relief. Marisa utilizes evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, Progressive Counting, and the Flash technique to effectively heal the roots of distressing emotions and negative beliefs stored within traumatic memories.

Marisa brings her passion for somatic psychology, trauma-sensitive mindfulness, and attachment theory to her therapeutic approach. She invites her clients to offer a gentle curiosity to all parts of themselves, so that together they may attune to what the body, heart, and spirit are most needing to restore wholeness.

Marisa recognizes that we already contain natural healing capacities within us. Her role is to facilitate the conditions to bring these capacities forward. Marisa offers telehealth for Massachusetts residents and in-person sessions at her Portland Old Port office.

Message to clients

I specialize in the treatment of preverbal trauma, childhood abuse and neglect, and relational trauma. I utilize a variety of evidence-based modalities that unlock the brain's natural healing capacities, while extending the utmost care, sensitivity, and compassion to support you in the healing process.

The intensive therapy format begins with bringing awareness to the ways in which your present day reactions could be linked to past events. I provide psychoeducation, resourcing skills, and support in goal setting. After a treatment plan is agreed upon, we will work to heal traumatic and overwhelming experiences in chronological order by using EMDR, Progressive Counting, and the Flash technique.

I welcome the opportunity to hear from you to determine if my services are a good fit for what you are seeking.
