Professional statement

Mary Ann Roth is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor providing online teletherapy throughout the state of North Carolina. She works with adult individuals and couples whose patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors obstruct their ability to fully engage in activities and relationships. Mary Ann assists her clients in gaining insights & finding creative ways to release harmful patterns while building new skills to move them toward the peaceful, healthy, and connected life they desire.

Mary Ann’s primary approach is rooted in the empirically-supported behavioral therapy of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). Mary Ann assists her clients in reducing the impact and influence of painful thoughts & feelings while taking action to build a meaningful life. When couples are suffering from loss of connection, broken communication and lack of intimacy, Mary Ann helps them learn effective communication and negotiation skills, so they reconnect on a deeper emotional level creating greater support, stability, and intimacy. She helps her clients develop powerful tools and strategies to bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be.

Mary Ann is dedicated to working as a team with her clients in a safe, compassionate, and open environment. She supports her clients in gaining greater understanding of the stumbling blocks along their path and aids them in finding better ways to navigate. She teaches and empowers clients to open up, be more present, and take committed action on what matters most. Her focus is on providing practical strategies that clients can easily use to make a difference and bring relief.

Daytime & evening appointments are available through Mary Ann’s secure, simple, convenient, and effective online teletherapy platform. She strives to have clients receive the maximum amount of assistance to reach their therapy goals in the least amount of time.

Message to clients

My desire is for you to live a full, abundant, and meaningful life, which encompasses the entire array of emotions. Sometimes it feels like we are just stuck in pain and hardship while joy and happiness elude us. I am here to help you learn new ways to handle your pain and suffering and move you closer to an enriched life with plenty of joy and happiness. My focus is to get you "unstuck," moving forward, and feeling better as soon as possible. Therapy with me is quite active and, if you are willing, I may encourage you to try out some different techniques between sessions as a means to expedite your progress. Our main objective is to find what works for you.

You and I working together as a team is of the utmost importance. We will work on identifying the patterns that get in your way of living the life you desire. We will design a plan for releasing those damaging patterns while establishing new skills that provide you confidence and strength as you address challenges and find the life experience you are seeking.

My practice name is Dovetail Counseling. Dovetail [duhv-teyl]: to fit together in a harmonious way. Together we will fit pieces together and move you toward the life of health and happiness you desire. Call me today and let’s get started!
