Professional statement

Matthew Taylor is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has been in the field for over a decade as a passionate professional. Matthew has worked in several capacities, including individual and group therapy. Matthew believes strongly in the importance of connection, and as a group therapist, has worked diligently to connect individuals and integrate them into community. Matthew's clients tend to be the outcast, jaded, lonely, and afraid, even if they are too afraid to admit being afraid. He tends to use humor to lighten the burden of the work as he believes in making progress that is sustainable. He takes your growth and struggles very seriously and is dedicated to offering answers, strategies, skills, and resources to help you move forward in life. Through working in high capacity facilities he has met with thousands of people with a wide degree of issues in a wide range of severity. Matthew sees the unknown as a challenge and will be excited to help you overcome your own fears.

Matthew's approach to therapy revolves around a few tenets from a few backgrounds. First, you are a human being, worthy of unconditional positive regard and respect. This is paramount in your work. Second, in use of trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, there are certain beliefs that you have developed which serve as skills to help prevent or lessen the experience of pain, but that these beliefs and skills now block your ability to move forward in life. Third, in use of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, your ability to utilize certain skills to help ground and regulate your emotions will help you achieve greater personal efficacy.

Currently, Matthew is accepting clients via Telehealth and in-person in Ormond Beach. Please visit his website on Headway for details, including private pay and insurance costs.

Message to clients

Hey there, I want you to know that you are not alone in the world. I know that sounds incredibly cliché and I really don't care, because as corny as they are sometimes, a lot of those clichés about therapy are true. I want you to know that I will work hard to understand you and let you know that you are not crazy, nor are you stuck or doomed to live an unhappy life. There are answers, even if we have to make them up together. I am willing to get creative if you are willing to get vulnerable. If you are on this site and have come this far, chances are you have already suffered a great deal. PLEASE, for your sake, and the sake of future you, don't wait. Your healing journey can begin right now.
