Professional statement

Max Casero is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Austin, TX. They’re passionate about working with the LGBTQ community, as well as those with neurodiversity, and they work with teenagers, young adults, and adults as well as couples and families. Many of Max’s clients find themselves overwhelmed by emotions like anxiety, stress, or trauma reactions. They begin therapy as a way to process through what’s happening in their lives and find tools that can help them live comfortable, healthy lives.

Max’s approach to therapy draws from Restorative Practices, which empowers clients to hold themselves accountable for their actions. Clients also benefit from therapy approaches like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness therapy, narrative therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. They learn more about who they are, where they come from, and how they can better cope when feeling distressed. Max’s style is laid back, honest, and genuine. They use different approaches in sessions depending on the needs of their client.

Max earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. They previously worked in community mental health and in the school setting, where they supported the mental health of countless individuals and families to help them live authentic and comfortable lives.

Message to clients

Therapy can be tough. You browse therapist websites, and it’s all nature scenes, zen vibes, and calm oceans. It's peaceful - but that’s not what the journey looks like. Growth and healing are messy, uncomfortable, and far from a straight path. My job is to walk alongside you on this adventure of healing and self-discovery: to listen, support, teach, and even laugh when it inevitably gets chaotic.

In every session, you can expect safety, trust, honesty, and validation for those big emotions. You can also expect me to be honest and forthright when you're regressing or self-sabotaging. Together, we’ll embrace discomfort, practice real-life skills, and stay committed to your goals. Growth isn’t easy, but it's worth it—and as a team, we’ll get you to a place of real change.
