Professional statement

Megan Gallagher is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in RI, CT, and MA. She works to create a safe and comfortable environment for her clients to follow a personalized route towards meeting their goals.

If you’ve looked at Psychology Today or on other clinicians websites, everyone talks about how they treat depression and anxiety and PTSD and a whole bunch of other trendy words. Megan treat's all of those too. But she feels like you are WAY more than just a mental health diagnosis. You are a WHOLE person, a WHOLE wonderful unique person worthy of being more than just a diagnosis. Did you know that insurance demands that therapists actually create a diagnosis for you, that goes into your permanent record, after knowing you for a mere 45-120 minutes? THAT’S RIDICULOUS. Alas, we must play the game in order to get services covered. And so must you. Granted, there are definitely things within a diagnosis that can be helpful for treatment, but there is just so much more to it than that. We believe that treatment plans should be made special for just you, not just your anxiety, so your treatment won’t look like Suzy’s and Suzy’s won’t look like Jessies.

Treatment in Megan's practice can take a variety of forms, as she works specifically with each client to meet their needs and engage in therapeutic techniques that are within the client's comfort level. Megan has training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness Practices. She has particular expertise in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, a modality that helps resolve the painful symptoms of anxiety, trauma, and depression in as few as one to three sessions.

Please note that all sessions, including ART, are done via telehealth only.

Message to clients

So if you’ve been looking for a therapist, I’m sure you’ve read all about how they work to create a warm, caring environment where you can be yourself and fully actualize who you are meant to be, with no judgement…or something like that.

Well, of course we provide that at Here to There Counseling, but we are also looking to get in there and be 100% real and get 100% dirty with you. We will be honest and will likely tell you things that you already know but don’t want to admit…things your friends/family/other therapist(s) might be too afraid to say. We will (gently) expose the elephant in the room because we want to get to the root of the issue. And we believe that you can’t grow with an elephant sitting on your chest.
