Professional statement

Melissa Foster is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker located in Dublin, OH. Melissa supports people to make healthy and lasting changes in their lives. Many of Melissa’s clients feel overwhelmed by the stress in their lives, whether that’s from burnout at work or from taking care of other people. She is passionate about working with professionals who have either witnessed or been directly involved in accidents on the job, including active military, veterans, or first responders. Sometimes, these individuals develop PTSD, which can interrupt their daily living.

Melissa practices a therapy modality called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which helps individuals move past painful or traumatic memories. Often, these memories hold them in trauma reactions, including the physical manifestations of trauma. As a therapy approach, EMDR helps individuals integrate these memories into their past so they can feel safe in the present. She also utilizes polyvagal therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness in her sessions. Melissa is an empathetic therapist who listens deeply, helping clients better understand what’s happening in their minds and bodies as they cope with difficult emotions.

Melissa earned a Master’s degree from The Ohio State University. She endeavors to get her clients to a greater sense of balance and well-being in their lives, so they can move past negative emotions and towards happier lives.
