Professional statement

Meredith Brown is Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private psychotherapy practice in Manhattan. She specializes in issues relating to relationship and family conflict, depression, anxiety, trauma and life transitions.

Meredith is particularly passionate about serving adults, young adults, and college students in individual, couples (and soon to be group) settings. In her practice, she implements a relational, mindfulness-based approach. She works predominantly from a psychodynamic/relational orientation, and incorporates aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and interpersonal therapy depending on the needs of the individual or couple.

Meredith received her Masters in Social Work from New York University, and her BA from Union College. She completed the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy's Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program in 2018 and the Psychoanalytic program in 20201. She is currently enrolled in a couples therapy training program through the Gottman Institute.

Message to clients

My approach to therapy emphasizes the value of the therapist-patient relationship as an essential component to creating a safe and supportive environment. Together we will be open, curious and thoughtful in understanding what isn't working for you and how to make it better. By exploring life experiences, personal triggers and relationship dynamics, I hope to help you gain a greater awareness and understanding of your thoughts, feelings and behaviors in order to have more meaningful and fulfilling relationships and life as a whole. I look forward to hearing from you!
