Michael Ames is a therapist specializing in helping adults, couples, teens, and families who are dealing with stress, emotional problems, and relationship issues. He provides a safe and warm environment in which clients are encouraged to discuss their issues openly and honestly.
Michael also works with elderly adults who are struggling with aging issues. He provides individual therapy for adults who have job-related stress, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. His office is located in Culver City next to West LA. The clients he treats say that he has a warm and caring personality and that he has their best interests in mind.
Michael helps people learn new coping skills to deal with life's most difficult challenges. In couples therapy, he help clients learn how to communicate their feelings so they are heard and understood by their partner.
He provides a safe, comfortable setting that allows clients to explore their issues and quickly find solutions. Each client is encouraged to formulate specific goals that lead to positive change. Michael helps clients discover their unique gifts and strengths.
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Work stress - Managing overwhelming stress and expectations; increasing effective ways of restoring and maintaining emotional stability and health; addressing challenging relationships with coworkers and bosses
Relationships - Understanding one’s wants and needs in relationships; exploring patterns of interaction, addressing concerns, and strengthening satisfaction in relationships and dating
Family issues - Promoting communication and supporting family members to address challenges and reduce conflict and distress
Aging related concerns - Coping with memory loss, loss of independence, and other physical and/or mental impacts of aging. May include support for family or caregivers and resource planning for changes in living situation
