Licensed Mental Health Counselor, LMHC Practice: JRD CounselingMichaela Ennis is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Michaela attended Rhode Island College and obtained a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Printmaking/Art History and then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Michaela has worked for over ten years in nonprofit agencies supporting children and their families with communication disorders and developmental disorders. Through this work, Michaela gained experience in home based behavioral therapy with a strengths based approach. Michaela provided counseling services at Bryant University, working with college aged students to find independence, manage stress and acclimate to college living. Michaela has significant experience working in both community and school settings working with individuals experiencing a wide variety of concerns, including anxiety and mood disorders, relationship challenges and trauma. Through working in community mental health, Michaela developed a passion for working with survivors of abusive relationships and sexual assault. She utilizes a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, mindfulness and Strengths Based Therapy to help clients to feel secure and confident to take control of their story.
Michaela specializes in working with adolescents and adults who may be experiencing significant stress, anxiety, depression, obsessive thinking, trauma and relationship challenges. Michaela is a therapist at JRD Counseling and sees clients in-person in their Wayland Square office, as well as via telehealth.
Adolescent mental health - Working with adolescents, teenagers, and parents on social, academic, and/or emotional challenges throughout teenage years; addressing anxiety, family conflicts, peer relationships, school stress, transition to college, social media pressures, self-esteem, hopelessness about the future, emotional disregulation

Mood disorders - Clinical depression, persistent depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders that cause disturbances in the client's mood, causing mood swings, restless sleep, and/or elevated mood
Academic challenges - Addressing underperformance in coursework, school avoidance, and procrastination
