Nancy St. Claire Rice, LMHC, LPC is a licensed counselor and cultural anthropologist with 25 years of experience. Her approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, cultural sensitivity, and a deep commitment to helping individuals achieve their goals. She offers online counseling for individuals in Florida, Texas, Arizona.
Nancy's career has primarily been dedicated to serving in non-profit settings focused on supporting underserved populations. She completed her internship at the Tucson Rape Crisis Center and at a community mental health center on the Arizona – Mexico border. In additional to providing counseling, Nancy also served in a wide variety of mental health executive positions. As a director, she oversaw services for adult populations in Arizona and investigated 100s of critical incidents. For seven years, she acted as the Chief Operating Officer for a mental health non-profit, Give an Hour, where she received an award from the White House - Joining Forces Community Challenge. For 3.5 years, Nancy provided oversight of community-based substance use centers in a 23-county catchment in northeast Florida. She is a subject matter expert in opioid use disorder, MAT, and harm reduction strategies. She was appointed in 2023 by the Jacksonville, Florida, City Council to the Opioid and Substance Use Disorder committee.
In addition to having a master’s degree in clinical counseling, she holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in anthropology with a focus on ethnographic (cultural) studies. Serving as a civilian cultural advisor, Nancy was embedded with a Brigade Combat Team in Iraq for seven months in 2008-2009. While conducting sociocultural fieldwork, she accompanied soldiers on over a 100 missions "outside the wire," including infantry units, military transition teams, police transition teams, and military police. Nancy served in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and is a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary.
