Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, LICSWPaul Sawyer is a licensed therapist in Newton, MA who works with individuals of all ages and various presenting concerns. He specializes in working with young adults and teens who are experiencing mental health, substance use, or life-transitional issues (e.g. beginning college, launching into adulthood, managing relationships, grief/loss, etc.).
Paul has training and experience in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT), mindfulness practices, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). He meets his clients where they are and helps them develop realistic goals. He also helps them become more grounded and connect to their bodies. In addition, Paul focuses on the relationship he has with his clients and uses this to look at how they approach other relationships.
Drawing from various theories in understanding the roots of suffering and discontentment, Paul takes a non-judgmental, curious, compassionate approach to guiding clients to a place of healing and wellness. He looks forward to meeting you.
