Professional statement

Rachel Distler is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor offering online therapy to clients in Massachusetts. She helps clients facing challenges related to anxiety, self-esteem, depression, life transitions, and communication. Rachel uses expressive arts therapy to help clients build confidence, ground themselves in the present moment, and help work towards finding their center.

Expressive arts therapy with Rachel involves combining traditional psychotherapy with creative processes including drawing or painting to promote healing; it serves as both the language of recovery and as a bridge for clients to transform something that feels overwhelming into something more manageable, and enact change.

Rachel’s approach is integrated with elements of mindfulness, yoga, Buddhist philosophy, and meditation. She sees clients of all ages and particularly enjoys working with gender diverse clients and young women.

She takes special care in developing an open, supportive relationship with each client, conducive to increasing self-awareness and internal strength. She works collaboratively, empowering clients to build confidence and gain concrete skills to use in their daily lives.

Message to clients

Coming to counseling can feel like a scary step to take. Often we think it's something that people who are 'broken' do. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Often times just having someone to come to who is focused on hearing you and supporting your goals, who is not otherwise involved in your personal or work environments, can open the doors that help you find the resolutions you seek. I believe that if there is an area of your life that feels stuck, or feels like it isn't working, counseling can help. You do not need to wear any of the masks or hats that daily life requires when you come into counseling. I am here to help you find your center, to find your balance, and to move towards actualizing your best self.
