Rebecca is a licensed mental health counselor certified in perinatal mental health, a certified lactation counselor, and certified yoga teacher. While many people on her caseload are family planning, expanding their families, or already parents, she sees many other populations as well including those with mood, anxiety, trauma, neurodivergent, and LGBTQ+ concerns.
Even though the people working with Rebecca are very different, they usually share the common goal of wanting to live their best life possible. Rebecca always starts with a humanist approach designed to start by building rapport and trust first to ensure clients feel comfortable and supported for some of the more difficult work ahead. Based on the client's needs, Rebecca then pulls from several disciplines like Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). By starting with the mind-body connection of MBCT, Rebecca helps people learn to recognize their triggers or sensations with curiosity rather than fear and escalation. From there, it makes it easier for clients to examine the relationships between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors (CBT), improve their interpersonal skills, emotional regulation, distress tolerance (DBT), and assess their values and behaviors for a more authentic, peaceful life (ACT).
Rebecca has worked in a variety of settings including private practice, outpatient health, and residential communities. She also has lived experience as a parent and the challenges the phase of life can bring. Rebecca is also committed to ongoing personal therapy so she understands how important the therapeutic relationship is as a patient. She strives to make her patients feel heard, supported, and valued as a result of knowing how it feels on the other side.
Currently all services are offered via telehealth for ease of access.
