Professional statement

Ryan works with adults who struggle with feelings of worry, fear, or anxiety. Clients seek Ryan’s help when they feel overwhelmed by their emotions as well as by habitual patterns of avoiding what they feel. People who seek Ryan's help often know that their patterns of coping are not working any longer, and they are motivated to not only understand why they feel how they feel, but to change how they relate to their emotions so they can become more engaged in their lives.

Ryan’s work as a counselor starts with a foundation of empathy and respect. He combines a client-centered, conversational approach with expertise in cognitive-based therapies to help his clients achieve real changes in their lives.

Before he became a counselor, Ryan worked for fifteen years in finance, banking, technology, and international business so he understands the challenges professionals face in work and in life. He has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the Metropolitan State University of Denver where he graduated with honors. He has also earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. He has completed advanced training and has earned post-graduate certificates in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy from the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and New Jersey.

Message to clients

You have been feeling a lot of strong emotions lately, and fear, worry, and anxiety about your future overwhelm you most of the time. In the past, you've always been able to 'outrun' or 'escape' from it all - either by immersing yourself in hobbies - or sometimes escaping for hours or days at a time with video games and TV - but it just isn't working anymore. This time the feelings are too strong. And you're tired of running from how you feel anyway. You want to understand yourself and why you feel this way so you can start facing life with more confidence and stop the patterns of avoidance that have held you hostage long enough.

During our work together, we'll slow down, and we'll notice. We'll give your emotions the attention and respect that they - and YOU - deserve. We'll explore what you're going through with curiosity and compassion, uncovering the patterns that you've been stuck in and establishing new ways of relating to yourself, how you feel, and what you want.

I have a lot of hope for you and your future. Your life CAN get better. I encourage you to reach out to me when you're ready. I would be happy to schedule an initial consultation at no cost so we can talk about what you're going through and how I can help. Feel free to email me or visit my website today to get started. I look forward to meeting you!
