Growing up in a family system that didn’t understand the importance of mental health created a desire for me to work in the Mental Health setting. In the therapist, client relationship, it’s important to have a good therapeutic relationship, so finding the right therapist is important. My experience as a social worker and currently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor has allowed me to work with individuals, adults/children and group in areas concerning trauma, transitions, anxiety, depression, inner child work, amending ancestral patterns, cultural and relationship issues. It can be a challenge putting your mental health as a priority. It can be one of the hardest and best choice you can make in your life.
Most individual see mental health as something that’s not tangible as a medical issue, however your brain is your mental health. Mental health show up not just from an emotional or cognitive state but it can also affect your nervous system/body. It is said that “trauma sit in the body” when not resolve. If you had a broken bone in your body, would you not get help? Getting assistance for your challenges and struggles will improve your mental well-being, self-care, happiness, balance, etc. Your future self will thank you for taking the step toward mental peace by making that phone call or sending that email.
My approach as a therapist is predominantly from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy perspective. This allows me to help my clients identify their thoughts and behaviors around their relationships, triggers, family dynamics and childhood issues/trauma. Using both eclectic and humanistic approach to accentuates the significance of being your true self in order to be the most fulfilling and best version of yourself.
