Many of Shanae’s clients come in to address childhood trauma, chronic illness/chronic pain, anxiety, depression, attachment issues. Shanae is particularly passionate about serving veterans, women with fertility challenges, older adults and Black women. She also have advanced training in the area of C-PTSD, PTSD, anxiety, OSDD, DID, depression, grief/loss.

Shanae is certified in EMDR, in which neglect, abuse and other unprocessed traumatic events can lead to maladaptive beliefs about oneself such as 'I am not safe', 'I am worthless', 'I don't deserve love'. These beliefs and the traumatic memories become stuck in the nervous system and prevents the natural healing process of our brain to occur. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) helps the brain process these memories, allowing natural healing to take place. Shanae is also trained in AEDP, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Ecotherapy.

Shanae's style is empathic, dedicated and skilled. When clients first start therapy, she focuses on building rapport and nurturing the therapeutic relationship. She also ensure that my therapeutic style matches their needs. .

Shanae received her MSW from Cleveland State University and her MNO from Case Western Reserve University. She has worked at Pacific Medical Centers (PacMed) as a psychotherapist where she provides long-term counseling services. Outside of private practice, her faith is an integral part of who she is and is the main identity she holds. She is an AVID Peloton-er and she loves going hiking and occasionally backpacking with her husband, the love of her life. . Shanae offers primarily telehealth sessions. Ecotherapy sessions are held outdoors in a predetermined and agreed upon location.

Message to clients

I started this journey wanting to help folks live well as a Palliative Care Social Worker. What I found is that so many illnesses are precipitated and exacerbated by psychological suffering. I felt helpless to help the folks I was seeing and that is when I went down the proverbial trauma rabbit hole and voraciously studied and devoured as much information as I could on the connection between how our past affects our present.

So many people have been told they are broken, they're "too much", too sensitive, to 'get over it'. Sometimes those are the messages they tell themselves. When faced with a choice of making it to the next the mind copes the best way it can in the moment. Your mind got through it and got your body through your past. Your body did what it was supposed to, in order to get you through to this moment. Now is the time to give yourself so much more than just 'getting through it', you can discover what you are capable of when 'IT' is no longer the guiding force.

My hope is that you will find our sessions a safe enough space. I am flawed, but I am earnest and genuine. I will walk these humble steps alongside you.
