Professional statement

Sharon Carter is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Lake Oswego, OR. She has extensive experience in the mental health field. Many of her clients find themselves in therapy because they want to reset their lives -- to find meaning or joy in their daily lives once more. Sharon’s expertise is helping these clients reconnect with their inner selves and overcome difficult life transitions. She works with clients who feel burnt out to rekindle their enjoyment and discover new ways of feeling authentic.

Sharon’s approach to therapy includes elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), internal family systems therapy, and solutions-focused brief therapy. She teaches clients how to harness their natural coping strategies to manage their emotional reactions throughout the day. She also teaches clients how to recognize negative thought patterns and replace them with healthier ways of thinking. She builds each client’s sense of hope, empowering them to make decisions that prioritizes their mental health.

Sharon earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Portland State University. She brings humor and compassion to each session with her clients as she shares new perspectives with them. Her goal is to support her clients as they look inwards and develop their sense of inspiration.
