Professional statement

Balanced Mental Health is owned and operated by Simone Longoria, LPC. With over 7+ years working in the mental health field, she uses her education and life experience to help coach, teach, and guide people to achieve a more balanced way of living.

Simone works with individuals across the lifespan, with a passion for working with clients facing life transitions (going into high school, a move to a new city, new job/relationship or job/relationship loss etc) as this can often stir up some old wounds we didn't know were still there. Simone also has a passion for educating and counseling individuals wishing to explore their desires or sexuality in alternative lifestyle relationships such as polyamory, swinging, ethical-nonmonogamy/open-relationships, and BDSM/KINK. Simone not only has clinical experience, but also personal working knowledge of the BDSM/KINK, polyamory, and swingers community.

A trauma informed therapist, Simone's approach to counseling is very conversational. She uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as Motivational Interviewing to assist clients with accepting or tweaking things within their current situation that no longer serve them, or may be causing distress. She works to help her clients understand their physical, emotional, and external responses to stressors and problem solves with her clients to help them to achieve the response they want to have.

Simone's first priority when with a new client is ensuring they feel safe, heard, and like an equal partner in the therapeutic process. She is committed to maintaining an inclusive practice and welcomes all people to her door.

Message to clients

Hello and welcome! My name is Simone and I am excited to start working with you. Before our first session, I want you to know that my goal is to make you feel heard, and show you that therapy can be a very relaxing, judgement free zone where you can be unapologetically you. Building a trusting and safe relationship is important to me as I am a non-judgmental, and honest person who truly does have a passion for working with people. It is my belief that YOU are the expert of your own story, and I am only here as a support character to help you accept or tweak what is no longer serving you on your life journey, or aid in supporting you to no longer second guess your gut instincts.

I have a passion for working with individuals (adults or teenagers) living with anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, are experiencing life adjustments, or just in need of a sounding board to ensure they are doing the best they can. Throughout my career, I have been told I work well with those handling their past or current trauma or their family upbringing, and I have often worked well with those in, or seeking to know more about, alternative lifestyle relationships such as polyamory, swing, or BDSM/kink dynamics.

Wherever you are in life, I can guarantee I'm the counselor you want to help get you through the tough times or support you during your triumphs.
