Professional statement

Susan Adams is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Arizona. Susan works individually with adults of all ages who are looking for support and guidance in their personal, professional, relational, or spiritual growth. Clients often find themselves lost under the pressures of daily life and may be seeking a better approach to understanding their own strengths, needs, and desires. Susan’s grounded, compassionate and explorative approach provides a gentle, yet direct presence, creating a sense of calmness and security as clients find a deeper connection to self, others, and their environment.

Having an extensive background working in the field of mental health, Susan began her journey working with students in the field of special services, then spent years working in the field of addiction. Learning from her clients, Susan became curious about how a person’s early traumatic experiences affected that person’s adult life. This curiosity began a lifelong dedication to helping others find their true path in life. Beginning with more traditional CBT, DBT, and EMDR training, Susan then explored the realm of higher consciousness through yoga training and meditation practices. Bringing these mind-body-spiritual practices to everyday life has been the greatest gift to Susan’s clients. As a result, Susan offers the treasures of some of the most advanced and well researched transformational therapies, such as IFS and AEDP.

Understanding the benefits of traditional, complimentary, or alternative methods of healing allow for flexibility and creativity within the therapeutic process and treatment outcome. This approach goes beyond the standard evidence-based theoretical models and provides an integrative, holistic healing modality that offers a caring and supportive environment for lasting change and transformation.

At this time, Susan is offering remote therapy only.

Message to clients

My approach is collaborative and holistic. I provide the space for you to share, reflect, and evaluate the changes that you wish to make in your life. My role in the therapeutic process is to hold you in the highest regard, offer the tools to allow change to happen, and to witness your journey in a very profound way. At times, it may seem repetitious and boring. Other times will seem magical and awe-inspiring. But, whatever the method, the goal is to have the outcome that is best suited for you, and to give you the experience of transformation that feels natural and loving.

One of the reasons I knew that I was taking the right path in a helping profession, was because of how the Social Work profession believes that life's experiences are just as important (and maybe even more important) as achieving a higher education or completing professional training. The decision to work on yourself may feel scary. Perhaps there are many obstacles and challenges to overcome. But having real-life challenges, or taking a less-traveled path, can provide you with the sometimes painful but necessary opportunities to learn experientially. I am happy to provide the support and guidance as you begin your journey into the unknown!
