I’ve never accepted the idea of “traditional” therapy in an office. People don’t live in the therapy office! I started my career in 2009, working with children and families in their homes. By 2013, I transitioned to counseling online where I focused on chronic pain therapy. In early 2020, with some additional training, I incorporated trauma recovery therapies into my practice. The transition was a good fit!
Each new journey begins with an in-depth look at the reasons you chose therapy. I’ll ask questions about topics that may not seem relevant or connected, too. Our behaviors, thoughts, and emotions are fueled by our brain’s interpretation of our experiences. We may even inherit interpretations from prior generations! We’ll look at it all. Once we have a clear understanding of the path that brought you to therapy, then we’ll begin creating a roadmap that gets you where you want to go. You’re in charge every step of the way. I’ll simply to be your guide. Having made this healing journey myself and retraced its many paths with others, I’ll walk with you on your unique journey.
I approach therapy assuming each individual has strengths that can be tapped for recovery. Additionally your early childhood experiences, culture, family traditions and beliefs are fertile ground for discovering the root of the challenges you’re facing today and their solutions. We’ll work together to rewrite your life story that puts you front and center as the hero(ine). We’ll explore how you talk to yourself, what you assume is true, and how those mental processes ultimately define what you do. Most importantly, we’ll evaluate whether all these factors truly represent who you are and who you want to be. I’ll help you create new habits, thoughts, and behaviors that reflect the real you.
