Professional statement

Valerie Schomburg is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with ARISE Psychotherapy Services, who provides individual psychotherapy services via online video telehealth to adults ages 18 and up. Valerie draws from an array of therapy approaches in her work with others in order to provide individualized treatment for each person. In her sessions, Valerie also works from a strengths based and neurodivergence affirming perspective.

No matter what individuals are facing, Valerie believes that taking the first step in seeking help can feel empowering, despite how difficult it may seem initially.

Many of Valerie’s clients are at the beginning stages of their gender transition or exploring the nuances of their attraction to others. Valerie understands the importance of providing a space in which folks can feel safe and comfortable while addressing these topics with her. This is why when working with her, you can expect to feel heard and to experience warmth, empathy, and unconditional support without judgment.

In addition to the above, Valerie also works with folks struggling with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, Autism Spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, college student mental health and stress management concerns, bipolar disorder, women's issues, life transitions, self-esteem issues, and issues veterans are facing.

Message to clients

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile! I enjoy working with individuals at every stage of the journey that life has to offer. I offer support to all clients in learning to recognize their agency and voice in their daily lives. As such, my clients are encouraged to set their own goals each week that feel important or comfortable, and that might look different each week.

When working with me, you can expect warmth, empathy, and support throughout the process. I feel that therapy is a collaboration between individuals, and I want nothing more than to see you achieve the goals you have created for yourself. If you are ready to take the next step on your journey, please do not hesitate to reach out. If you think we may be a good fit but aren’t sure, let's have a short call where I can answer any questions you may have.
