Hi, my name is Vienna Aslanian and I am an LCSW with 8 years of experience in the field of therapy and social work. I am a child and family therapist as well as a trauma therapist for adults and adolescents. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities including DBT, CBT, trauma-focused therapy, somatic experiencing techniques, and motivational interviewing. I have experience with childhood and family of origin issues, feminist issues, women’s issues, LGBTQIA+ issues, and ethnic/historical trauma issues. I have experience treating PTSD, BPD, ADHD, Autism, domestic violence survivors, and abuse survivors.
I believe that the most important aspect of therapy is the therapeutic relationship; I have found that, when clients feel safe, understood, validated, and cared about, it makes them better able to meet their therapeutic goals. Active listening is an important aspect of therapy that I employ by encouraging clients to speak up, not speaking over them, and making them feel comfortable to share with me on a deeper level. I encourage clients to be themselves and I strive to do the same with them to help promote a sense of openness and comfortability.
I enjoy helping clients by teaching DBT skills of mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation. I look forward to helping you identify and replace self-defeating beliefs as well as unhelpful thought patterns. I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship, rapport building, and providing support. I have a strong focus on childhood and family of origin issues, feminist issues, women’s issues, LGBTQIA+ issues, and ethnic/historical trauma issues. I work with you on helping you develop better skills in the realm of self-compassion and self-care. I also use somatic experiencing techniques to help you heal from traumatic life experiences and feel more comfortable in your everyday life. I offer free consultations.
