Professional statement

Wendy Huntley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located on line and in Holmdel, New Jersey. She has worked since 1992 providing individuals, couples, and groups therapeutic interventions which create change. Wendy created Rising Higher Psychotherapy after successfully counseling clients for decades. She has developed a warm, welcoming, strait forward style which allows clients to feel safe and begin to identify difficult issues. Her message to all is that “we all make sense.” Whatever is creating your pain can be better understood and managed.

Clients seek Wendy’s care when other avenues they have perused have failed. Symptoms of anxiety, unprocessed trauma, and relationship problems are her focus. These symptoms include: constant worry, sleeplessness, appetite changes, self criticism, self rejection, addictive behaviors, ruminating thoughts, relationship struggles, and overall feelings of defeat. Many clients are very successful in other areas of their lives, yet struggle to view their own value and strengths.

Wendy is trained in numerous theories and interventions. Some of these include:, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing,

EMDR influence, Humanistic Psychology, Client Centered approaches, Theories of Grief Counsel, and Spiritual Growth concepts.

Rising Higher Psychotherapy welcomes clients in a very comfortable office. Clients can expect the opportunity to be truly heard and at the same time gently empowered. Their symptoms, history, and other information will be processed and treatment goals will be identified. She is flexible with all aspects of clients care, the treatment meets clients “where they are”.

Wendy received her MSW in Clinical Social Work from New York University in 1992. She has received certifications in EMDR and clinical supervision CCS. Wendy has worked in nonprofit substance abuse and mental health treatment centers throughout Monmouth County since she moved here in 1996.

Message to clients

The world as we all understood it has transformed quite a bit in recent times. If you had some symptoms of stress and anxiety prior to Covid it is likely that your symptoms may have increased a bit with all of the recent changes.

Please know that the feelings of being understood and being connected are essential to us all. Humans need these experiences to grow. My goal as a therapist is to provide a welcoming environment for clients to safely examine all aspects of their lives in a judgement free- safe place. Only through self exploration and honesty can personal issues begin to transform.

I have been successful in helping clients increase self awareness which is the root of all real change. Clients in therapy with me can expect to feel more informed and more empowered. You will also gain skills in self care to immediately feel relief. When we become more aware of our less than conscious motives, we can begin to focus more on ourselves. This new behavior makes all the difference.

Other issues which keep individuals stuck could be related to unprocessed past events. As we clarify together your past, and your previous attempts to change, we can develop a plan for you to rise higher.

We are all a work in progress and relationship problems and anxious/ depressive symptoms can improve as self defeating automatic responses shift. I welcome you to start the conversation !
