Spoonies Unite: A Support Space for Chronically Ill Folks

Description

"Spoonie" is a community identity term many chronically ill folx use to describe themselves. In her blog post "The Spoon Theory," Christine Miserandino introduced the term "spoons" as a metaphor for the varying energy levels and functioning that chronically ill folx have each day, and how much is used up doing everyday tasks like bathing, cleaning, and commuting to work.

This is a safe and affirming community for spoonies to find mutual support. Here, we come together to share our lived experiences navigating the challenges of chronic health conditions and ableist social structures that impact our mental and emotional well-being. We work together to cultivate mindfulness and self-compassion skills that can support us in coping and managing challenges more effectively.
