Aliza Shapiro, LCSW, is a licensed psychotherapist and founder of Therapy in the City, PLLC, a full-service therapy practice in NY, NJ, and FL. Specializing in the treatment of anxiety, OCD, depression, and related disorders, Aliza and her team provide quality care that is goal oriented, evidence based, culturally relevant, and strength inspired.
Utilizing the evidence-based approaches of Cognitive and Dialectical Behavior Therapies, it is our mission to help adults, young adults, and adolescents overcome an array of mental health conditions and navigate challenges of everyday living. We specialize in the treatment of anxiety related disorders (social anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, specific phobias, performance anxiety, perfectionism), as well as depression, ADHD, relationship challenges, emotion dysregulation, and life-transitions.
Within our therapeutic approach, we help clients both learn to understand and to change patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior, in order to achieve concrete, lifelong goals. All clinicians within our practice are directly trained in evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT, and Exposure/Response Prevention therapies. We take a skills based approach to helping clients regulate strong emotions, valiantly face fears, improve relationship dynamics, and break through perceived limitations. As clinicians, we strive to match our care and our competence in order to help each individual find success, meaning, joy, and personal growth in the therapy room, and in all contexts of life.
Therapy In The City offers in-person and virtual individual, family, and group sessions. As needed, our clinicians work closely and collaboratively with outside providers in order to ensure holistic, quality, care is provided throughout our work with each client.
