We believe that we grow, heal and thrive in relationships, and that therapy is more than a transaction. Amanecer Counseling centers therapists and clients who want to participate in a care ecology- a small system that values the relationships between and within communities working to heal.
Amanecer, in español, means dawn or new day. Therapists who have created Amanecer Counseling believe that we each have many horizons throughout our lifetimes and when we work in collaboration - we can experience profound change inside ourselves and our relationships.
Thriving and reaching for joy and connection is difficult due to oppression, experiences of trauma and early life attachment wounds. As queer and trans people we may find that we are reaching for change within ourselves and our lives over and over again and often without the role models, mirrors or future selves to guide us.
We offer individual, couples and group therapy.
We may be a great fit for you if you are:
- Seeking support for your journey as a queer, trans or non-binary person
- Interested in using EMDR ( Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to address a current or past traumatic experience
- A first generation or BIPOC college student seeking additional support for the transiton and experience of college
- A new(er) parent seeking support for your post-partum experience. We offer post-partum support for birthing and non-birthing parents.
- A queer or trans person who is looking for LGBTQ+ providers
- A multiracial /mixed identified adult seeking a mixed identified clinician
At Amanecer Counseling, we are in-network with Aetna of New York State, and we provide direct support to clients who would like to use their out-of-network benefits. We use Thrizer as a service to bill for all out-of-network reimbursements.
If you are paying out of pocket, our fee ecology ranges from $75-250 depending on income, access to wealth and resources, and interest in participation in the Fee Ecology that we have created to support lower-income clients and increase access to care.
