Body-Positive Therapy NYC is a specialty group psychotherapy practice with a social justice mission. Folks of all ages and gender expressions come to us with struggles spanning the full disordered eating spectrum to heal their relationships with food and body and to tap into their most authentic selves. Many of our clients face challenges that fall at the intersection of body, food, and reproductive health, as well co-occurring concerns, such as anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, gender identity, sexuality, and trauma.

Our Body-Positive NYC team — Amanda, Cait, Cristina, Dominique, Jill, and Zoë — are united in a belief that all bodies are fundamentally good and deserve to be nourished with food, joyful movement, pleasure, connection, and belonging. We also get that the cards are stacked against most of us — folks with marginalized identities in particular — when we consider the various systems of oppression at play in our society: narrow, eurocentric appearance-ideals, unrelenting fat phobia, and the multi-billion dollar diet and “wellness” industry that preys on our insecurities. Factor in genetics and temperamental vulnerabilities and you see how what may start as “normative body discontent” might morph into an all-consuming preoccupation. We believe you deserve to live your life free from negative beliefs about yourself and your body... but we know the path to getting there is not always self-evident.

We want to help you reclaim trust and peace with your body so that you can live your most authentically fulfilling and connected life.

No body is too big and no problem is too small to find healing and hope at Body-Positive Therapy NYC.

What services does your practice offer?

Body-Positive Therapy NYC is a speciality group practice in Manhattan. We offer individual, couples, and family therapy sessions.

Why should I choose your practice?

Body-Positive Therapy NYC is unique in that all of our providers use evidence-based treatment through a social justice lens to treat folks who struggle across the eating disorder/disordered eating spectrum. All of our therapists have the advanced skills needed to treat severe eating disorders (and we embrace the challenge!), but we are equally passionate about bringing compassionate care to folks who may not meet official criteria for the textbook version of an eating disorder, but struggle nonetheless.
