Practice Information

Raha Janka (MSW, MPH, LGSW) welcomes individuals who are seeking to create change in their lives.

She brings a multicultural lens to the therapeutic space, creating a safe environment where you can access inner resources and increase awareness of your authentic self, while honoring your multifaceted identities and cultural strengths. She values working with individuals from many different backgrounds, including those from queer and trans communities, and POC.

A significant focus of her work involves helping clients deepen their understanding of themselves and their relationships. Infused with humor and compassion, she will help you explore agency within your life, including intersectional identities, and social and family environments, helping form a trusting, compassionate, and confidential relationship to better understand the complexities of your life and bring about hope for a better future.

With a nonjudgmental spirit, she helps clients develop awareness of their emotions and create a toolkit of effective ways of responding to them. Whether you are looking to ease the symptoms of depression or anxiety, seeking deeper relationships with one's self or others, resolving trauma, or looking for a LGBTQ-friendly therapist, she would like to be a part of your healing journey toward your most fulfilling life.

FAQS

What services does your practice offer?

Individual and group therapy sessions.

How does payment work at your practice?

I am not in-network with any insurance company, but submit claims on your behalf to your Out of Network (OON) provider. I often submit to the following companies: Aetna, Cigna, GEHA, and United.

Why should I choose your practice?

I operate from a trauma-informed lens, meaning that it is important for us to understand your life experiences in order to deliver effective care. I also work from an culturally informed and intersectional stance, often considering how systemic injustice and oppression interferes with mental health and well being.

I believe the relationship between the therapist and client is a significant part of the healing process. I am self-reflective and consider how my own identity impacts the therapeutic relationship, working with you to create a safe place to address your experiences without feeling misunderstood. Furthermore, I infuse my mental health and public health expertise to foster the health of the whole-person, working together to help you create meaningful and lasting changes in your life.
