Uptown Therapy and Wellness is a group practice for psychotherapy in Washington Heights, Manhattan. They specialize in anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship issues, particularly for people of color. The providers at Uptown Therapy strive to help each of their clients see and understand emotional progress, often incorporating skills-based treatment plans to reduce negative thought patterns and behaviors.
Uptown Therapy and Wellness clinicians posses a wide variety of expertise and training, as well personal and cultural backgrounds. We offer traditional 50 minute sessions, and "integrated" 80 minutes sessions that incorporate 30 minutes of personal training before the session. We saw that many New Yorkers, particular people of color, had trouble finding the match they wanted in a therapist and sought to address this.
We created a comprehensive staff to handle the many expectations and goals of our clients. We have clinicians trained in issues relating to pregnancy and postpartum mothers, trauma, anxiety and panic, as well addressing ongoing struggles with depression. We are especially attune to assisting clients handle life transitions and events that often worsen symptoms. Our therapists work with clients to create strategies and tools to improve lives in between sessions and after the work has concluded.
Uptown Therapy and Wellness recognize that many clients have felt they were unable to find therapists that understood their experience and background. We have strived to create a diverse team so that everyone feels they find a good therapeutic match as well as a culturally aware one.
We accept United, Oxford, Oscar and Aenta in-network. We collect payment for other insurances by cash, venmo/paypal and will assist clients in collecting out of network reimbursement when possible.
