I received my Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Studies and graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University before earning my Master and Doctor of Nursing degrees from Columbia University. Intending to become a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, I received Sigma Theta Tau honors in nursing from Columbia.
The psych-mental health nurse practitioner role is so appealing in the way it bridges the gap between psychiatry and therapy. In my practice, I get to blend these two approaches to mental health care to create care plans personalized to you. In most cases I see, medication management is helpful, but it is not enough to meet the patient’s needs alone. I enjoy bringing in elements of different therapeutic modalities based on your personal needs.
I don't stick to one specialty but work with several different focuses. I work with many populations and enjoy working with people of all ages and walks of life with ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and eating disorders. I love hearing about the unique strengths and challenges you bring and working with you to maximize those strengths and build stronger coping skills. I see you from a holistic perspective, personalizing treatment plans based on your unique needs and strengths.
My background in cognitive and clinical psychology research informs my understanding of how mental health disorders can impact thinking and decision-making. While in school, I had the opportunity to interact with many mental healthcare providers in the field. Although I loved researching and contributing to the development of our collective knowledge of mental health, I felt I could impart the most good in a direct care role. My research experience also informs my evidence-based approach to addressing your concerns. I am committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive space for people of all backgrounds.
