Alise has wide-ranging experiences in the mental health field. It has allowed her to identify the populations she works best with and pursue the appropriate training to guide her work. The clients’ Alise serves are typically adults, 21 and older, seeking to improve their ability to cope with stressors, improve relationships, self-esteem and/or sexual functioning. More specifically, her clients' experience depression, anxiety, sexual interest/arousal disorders, erectile dysfunction or out of control sexual behaviors. Furthermore, she has spent several years aiding both perpetrators and survivors of domestic violence.
Alises' main approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She truly believes that what we think impacts how we feel, which impacts what we do. Her goal is to aid clients’ in feeling empowered enough to take control over their life and circumstances, which starts with managing thoughts. Alise also utilizes motivational interviewing which focuses on identifying your reasons for adhering to the change you desire. When aiding couples, she utilizes the research made available from the Gottman Institute to understand and address barriers to healthy functioning and interactions. Similarly, Alise utilizes the research regarding sex and sexuality to help clients identify what their healthy functioning looks like.
Alise has worked in a variety of settings so her education consists of classroom, research and real-world application of concepts. Alise is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and has been trained in EMDR, DBT, Gottman Method, batterers intervention facilitation, domestic violence counseling and is pursuing a certification in sex therapy.
At this time all sessions are facilitated via telehealth. It is helpful to have a ten minute phone consultation prior to scheduling an intake session so questions can be answered and resolved leaving more time for the intake assessment process.
