Professional statement

Amanda Mitchell is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Board- Certified Dance/Movement Therapist, and Founder of InTouch & Motion in the Irving Park neighborhood in Chicago, IL. She sees both couples and individuals and specializes in holistic mind-body-spirit oriented therapy approaches including dance/movement therapy and mindfulness. Her expertise is in trauma, including sexual trauma and physical assault, and anxiety. She is a particularly good fit for adults who have tried traditional talk therapy with limited benefit and seek deeper understanding and growth.

Amanda takes a mind-body-spirit-oriented approach that is integrative and holistic. In sessions, she and her clients may talk, breathe, move creatively and expressively, meditate and practice mindfulness, or practice being still and listening and being within while quieting fears. Her sessions are client-centered, and she utilizes a blend of strength based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Transpersonal Psychology to address coping skills, thought patterns, maladaptive behavioral patterns, and how clients feel mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Amanda strives to create an open, safe environment where clients are able to express themselves in a way that is comfortable and acceptable for them. Amanda received her MA in dance/movement therapy and counseling from Columbia College Chicago. She has received training on sexual trauma through the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

Message to clients

Maybe you have tried the self-help books, Youtube yoga videos, or even traditional talk therapy, but you still haven't found You - that sense of peace, a knowing or deeper understanding, or sense of worthiness in your life and your calling. You are on the right track, but you seek a space that helps you feel connected and trust the parts of yourself that you still are learning how to accept and own. Maybe you are a creative person, in mind, body, or spirit, that seeks guidance from a fellow creative. If you are looking to get in touch with You and create healing movement and growth in your life, then I am the therapist and supportive guide for you. Find peace from trauma, anxiety, or significant life changes and move towards resiliency, freedom, and a life you are living versus simply existing. In our sessions we may talk, we may breathe, we may move creatively and expressively, we may meditate and practice mindfulness, or we may practice being still and listening and being within while quieting the fears. Curious? Want to know more? Schedule a call for a free consultation and lets see if your journey begins here.
