Professional statement

Ms. Ana Barbosa is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with ARISE Psychotherapy Services. Ana provides individual psychotherapy services to diverse populations, with a focus on adolescents, teenagers and adults. Many of her clients struggle with depression, anxiety, past trauma, adjustment difficulties, and lack of motivation. Ana’s clients benefit from her attention to the importance of self-care and understanding that, though life expectations can be difficult to manage, clients can learn to manage them effectively. Through working with Ana, her clients soon find that they can learn the skills needed to live a healthy and meaningful life.

Ana’s therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness. These therapy approaches help clients understand their thoughts and feelings and learn the coping skills to help manage their symptoms. Ana’s clients learn to understand and express their feelings in ways that are healthy and beneficial in everyday life. Ana understands and validates the feelings of her clients while helping them identify and focus on the positives that life has to offer them.

Ana’s clients appreciate that she is a listener, and that they feel comfortable talking to and expressing themselves with her. Ana is committed to understanding her clients and takes pride in learning about their culture and background. She understands the significant ways in which generational and other past trauma can influence behaviors and thinking, which will be important to process in therapy when the client is ready.

Ana offers a flexible telehealth schedule for the convenience and comfort of her clients.

Message to clients

Becoming a therapist was a no brainer for me. Although it takes hard work and dedication, I learned from a young age that this is what I was meant to do. Coming from a diverse background and facing challenges as a first-generation college student taught me a lot. I have always wanted to normalize getting therapy and open the doors for those that think they cannot express their feelings openly. My clients appreciate that I believe in this profession and realize quickly that therapy is not only normal, but can also be transformative.

I want my clients to feel comfortable and be without fear of any form of judgment. My clients can learn that everyone has a story, and that we are not all the same. Although life can be challenging, I help my clients work through those challenges while remaining positive and working through the tough days.

My priority as a therapist is to help my clients live a life that they are happy and proud of; helping them to break generational expectations and become their true selves. I am eager to learn about you and look forward to connecting and beginning our work together! Feel free to reach out with any questions that you may have in order to see if we are the right match.
