Dr. Andy Santanello is a Clinical Psychologist located in Towson, MD. Dr. Santanello specializes in evidence-based psychotherapies such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for many common problems. He especially enjoys working with people who identify as introverts. He understands what it’s like to navigate a social world while balancing the legitimate need for alone time to recharge. Many of Dr. Santanello’s clients suffer from anxiety or depression from going through difficult times and from the perpetual feeling of being “stuck.” He helps these clients become unstuck and to move forward in their lives.
Dr. Santanello’s approach to therapy draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He collaborates with his clients to set mental health goals and always keeps those goals in mind throughout sessions. He helps clients determine what’s in their control and what’s out of their control. Dr. Santanello also practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a therapy approach that brings together thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. He teaches clients how to identify negative thought patterns that influence their daily emotions and change those patterns into healthier ones.
Dr. Santanello earned his PsyD from LaSalle University. He practices Zen Buddhism and is a teacher (sensei) in the White Plum Asangha, which continues to show him the value of mindfulness in his life and the lives of others. His style is compassionate with a side of humor, as he believes that healing can include silliness and laughter when appropriate.
