Professional statement

Anna Huff, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and works with adults virtually throughout California and New York. Her work helps people stop running on patterns that no longer fit who they have become; beliefs, defenses, and survival strategies that took shape outside often of conscious awareness. Her work traces those layers back to where they formed and unwinds them at the level they are actually held. Reaching those layers is where lasting change happens.

Dr. Huff integrates EMDR through an attachment-based lens, Deep Brain Reorienting, NeuroAffective Touch, and depth-oriented talk therapy. While the modalities can overlap and support one another, each is also known for what it reaches. EMDR processes what has remained unresolved and the patterns formed around it. Deep Brain Reorienting works at the brainstem level where shock and attachment wounding register. NeuroAffective Touch reaches developmental and preverbal layers that verbal work alone cannot always open. Depth-oriented talk therapy maps the larger structure of what is shifting over time. Sessions are steady and intentional, moving at a pace each person’s system can actually sustain, with attention to what is surfacing in the moment.

Dr. Huff sees clients across a wide range of experience and readiness, from those who have done years of inner work and are sensing that something hasn’t moved, to those who are just beginning to look at what has been quietly there. She holds a PhD in Clinical Forensic Psychology with a Concentration in Victimology and an MA in Organizational Behavior. She is trained in EMDR, Deep Brain Reorienting, NeuroAffective Touch, Thought Field Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, and Trauma Resolution Energy Therapy. Her own long-standing contemplative practice and study of depth-psychological traditions are woven into her clinical practice.

Message to clients

Hi, I’m Anna Huff, PhD, a licensed clinical psychologist in California and New York. I work with adults across a wide range of presenting concerns including trauma, attachment wounds, anxiety, identity shifts, life transitions, relational patterns, grief, and the experience of inner awakening.

Most of the people I work with are carrying patterns that formed early, often in response to circumstances they had no say in. Those patterns often underlie anxiety, depression, trauma reactivity, and relationship stress, and they become so familiar that they feel like identity. The same kind of person you keep ending up with. The same fight you have even when it’s a different relationship. The same anxious thought showing up at 3 a.m. no matter how much work you’ve done on it. The feeling that you have read the right books, gone to therapy, done the inner work, and yet here you are again, in the same place, wondering why this keeps happening. These patterns shape how much space you let yourself take, what you let yourself want, and who you allow yourself to be when no one is watching. They made sense at the time they formed, and they are not actually you.

Much of what I do is helping people see those patterns clearly, trace them back to where they came from, and unwind them, so that what is genuine to that person can come forward. I work with EMDR, Deep Brain Reorienting, NeuroAffective Touch, and depth-oriented talk therapy. This practice is LGBTQ+ affirming.

Specialties

Complex Trauma and Childhood Wounding - Even after years of therapy or inner work, early attachment wounds can live in the body and nervous system. I help clients meet those younger parts with compassion and precision—clearing patterns that no longer serve and allowing deeper truths to come forward.

EMDR - Processing trauma and stuck experiences in a way that supports the nervous system in completing what was unfinished, so you can feel more spacious, present, and free.

NeuroAffective Touch - Accesses the body’s deep layers of experience—aiding with the restoration of safety and reconnection with early parts of you that missed contact—allowing for growth and fullness in the here and now.

Spiritual Integration - Support in navigating spiritual depth, awakening, expanded states, or existential shifts—deeper exploration of truth and embodiment.

Subtle Body and Somatic Therapy - Our subtle body, physical body, and psychology work together, which means that trauma, memories, and experiences are stored through the layers. Sessions aid with awareness, creating movement in places that were previously frozen, and in increasing your ability to track and connect with your own experiences.

Life transitions - Some transitions are obvious—loss, relocation, career shifts, parenthood. Others are quieter: a sense that your life no longer fits, even if nothing looks wrong from the outside. I work with clients in these liminal spaces—where something old is falling away and something new hasn’t yet arrived. Whether the shift is external or internal, we make space to grieve, reorient, and move in rhythm with the part of you that’s evolving beneath the surface.
