Professional statement

Dr. Anna Huff is a Psychologist located in New York, NY. Dr. Huff works with young adults and adults who would like to work with a therapist to reach a greater level of wellbeing. Many of Dr. Huff’s clients start therapy because they feel overwhelmed with their stress, whether that’s from their relationships, workloads, or drive for high achievement. Others suffer from anxiety or depression, which might be the result of going through a major life transition or trauma. Dr. Huff enjoys working with LGBTQ clients and those who have an interest in the mind-body connection.

Dr. Huff practices several evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy modalities. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) helps clients integrate their traumatic experiences into their understanding of the past, which can help them feel safe in the present. Dr. Huff has additional training in EMDR therapy, and offers it to clients alongside several effective coping techniques to use in moments of distress. She also teaches clients the Emotional Freedom Technique, also called Tapping. This therapy modality combines somatic therapy with cognitive-based therapy techniques. Dr. Huff is passionate about guiding clients through meditation and mindfulness practices. Alongside being a therapist, Dr. Huff is a Level II Shamanic Reiki Provider.

Dr. Huff earned a PhD in Clinical Forensic Psychology with a concentration in Victimology. She also holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Behavior, and has extensive training in EMDR and Tapping therapy techniques. She views thoughts and feelings as forms of energy, and helps clients to resolve and release the negative energies that hold them back.

Message to clients

Hi, my name is Anna. I provide individual therapy from a holistic framework using Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprogramming (EMDR), EFT and TFT (tapping methods), meditations, and talk therapy. Maybe you’re experiencing mental and emotional distress - anxiety, depression, trauma, work or relationship stress, life transitions, etc. You are not alone. Most of us have experienced some form of distress. In sessions, I work from the framework that our dis-ease does not want to be maintained, it wants to be resolved and released. Our distress provides an avenue to our freedom and to the expansion of our consciousness. In therapy sessions, you can gain an understanding of how to utilize thoughts, emotions, perceptions, etc. in helpful manners. You can also gain increased freedom from your past with the ability to live more fully in your present. My approach fosters personal power and self-mastery helping you to understand and utilize your creative capacity.
