Professional statement

Ariana Gioia is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional based in Colorado Springs, CO. She specializes in complex trauma, women’s issues, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, and adjustment difficulties. Ariana’s clients describe her as easy to talk to, non-judgmental, validating, and empathic.

Many of Ariana’s clients seek therapy to address unresolved complex traumas and grief that negatively impact their functioning and relationships, resulting in anxiety, depression, shame, or codependency. She is dedicated to helping clients heal from past experiences, rebuild self worth, and find happiness and meaning. Ariana cares deeply for working with survivors of suicide and those who have lost a loved one to drug overdose. Surviving this type of loss is not only devastating, but is often misunderstood and invalidated by others who do not understand this type of complicated grief. Ariana enjoys working with clients adjusting to the challenges and changes associated with parenthood. She understands how parenthood can strain relationships and impact shifts in identity and values.

Ariana utilizes techniques such as EMDR, Parts Work, Attachment Theory, and CBT. She helps clients develop awareness and understanding of the impact of their beliefs about themselves and others, and their patterns of personal and interpersonal behaviors. Through insight, deeper connection, and compassion for themselves, clients are able to heal past wounds and create meaningful and lasting change in their lives and relationships. In working with couples, Ariana utilizes an emotionally focused approach. She understands that disconnection and emotional wounds are often created and maintained by feeling unseen, unheard, invalidated, and misunderstood. When couples develop the ability to really hear each other and have empathy and compassion for one another, connection and repair becomes possible.

Message to clients

Healing occurs when we feel safe, seen, heard and understood. I strive to make certain that clients feel this way in each session. It is important to me that my clients feel in control of their therapeutic experience by setting the pace and topic for each session. Regardless of what you are seeking counseling for, you get to decide when and how we will approach these topics and how in-depth we go. I view my role as providing feedback, support, and guidance to the healing and change process, not as being the expert on your life or future direction. I take very seriously the importance of making sure that my clients are prepared with coping mechanisms before diving into trauma or grief work, as having a solid coping foundation makes this work more safe, stable, and effective.

Therapy can be life changing for people. Beginning the work can be intimidating and overwhelming. Being willing to open up to a new therapist and to allow them in to your thoughts, feelings, and experiences takes a lot of courage. You are not in this alone; I am here to help.

Client testimonials

"I'm liking working with Ariana so far. She seems to know her stuff and is easy to talk to."
- Zencare client • October 2022
"It was a longer than just a phone consultation, so that was kind of nice to be able not to be rushed by only 10 minutes. There was opportunity to speak a little more about certain issues instead of just what I am looking for."
