Professional statement

Auralee Jameson is a clinical social worker licensed in Washington State and located in Friday Harbor, Washington. She works with adults of all ages and many of Auralee’s clients come in to address Anxiety, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and the impact of childhood trauma. Auralee is particularly passionate about serving adults who experienced childhood trauma as well as first responders and medical personnel.

Auralee is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Problem-Solving Therapy. Trauma informed care recognizes that many events that occur throughout the lifespan can have a lasting impact on a person’s life. In session, Auralee focuses on providing education on what is occurring in the mind and body as a result of trauma and teaches techniques to reduce stress and reactivity. These techniques allow people to process trauma in a way that is safe and supportive.

Auralee’s style is compassionate, non-judgmental and supportive. When clients first start therapy, Auralee will work to understand the client’s past history as well as their current situation to establish a safe environment to work towards their goals. This approach helps clients feel supported, relaxed and know that they are not alone in their journey of healing.

Auralee received her MSW from USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. She has worked in healthcare for 23 years with 16 of those years spent working as an emergency room nurse in a rural island community. Expanding on her knowledge as a nurse she decided to make a career change and became a social worker so she could help people in a different way than nursing. The office is located in Friday Harbor, WA with in person sessions available as well as remote sessions.

Message to clients

I want you to know that you are not alone in this world and together we can find a way to reach your goals. Many people seek therapy because they are looking for a change in their life or perhaps they are feeling overwhelmed with the challenges they face. My approach is tailored to the individual needs of the person. The therapeutic process is one that frequently results in a feeling of vulnerability and I recognize how difficult it is to be vulnerable. I strive to create an environment that feels safe, calm, and supportive.

One of the biggest keys to success in therapy is finding someone who you feel comfortable working with. I honor the uniqueness of each individual and respect the entire spectrum of human life experience. My nursing career has allowed me to sit with people during the worst moments of their life and I have been a witness to much human suffering. This experience allows me to approach therapy in a non-judgmental and compassionate way that many clients appreciate.
