Professional statement

Austin is a psychotherapist located in Tahoe City. She works with adults and adolescents many of whom are wanting to address symptoms of anxiety, ADD, trauma, life transitions, and feeling "stuck". Austin is particularly passionate about serving ADD, LGBTQ+, highly sensitive people, creatives, recent graduates and people navigating career challenges. She has advanced training mindfulness, somatic work, and coaching.

Austin uses Mindfulness, EMDR, CBT, Gestalt, Hakomi, Dreamwork, Somatics, Ecopsychology, and Systems thinking in her work. Using present moment experience and the therapeutic relationship - she blends pragmatic and solution oriented work with depth psychotherapy often time tuning into the body's intuitive wisdom. She will collaborate to find the routes that lead to greater joy, aliveness and meaning her clients lives. In session, Austin offers mindfulness, CBT, grounding, and somatic exercises to help deal with unhelpful thought patterns and to get the body more relaxed. This approach supports clients to feel more themselves, relaxed and present.

Austin's style is thoughtful, warm, and non-judgemental. When clients first start therapy, she will establish a strong relationship and comfortable environment where clients feel comfortable to explore all parts of their experience.

Austin received her MA from California Institute of Integral Studies. She has previous experience as a teacher and classroom counselor serving kids and adolescents with behavioral challenges. She was also a volunteer for Crisis Text Line, supporting individuals in crisis. Outside of private practice, she enjoys spending time in nature: hiking, skiing, river dipping, and working with horses. She believes nature and relationships are our most powerful teachers. Other sources of joy include: watching bad TV, hanging out with friends and family, cooking with her partner, and snuggling with her senior dog, Aggie. She offers nature-based sessions/walk and talk therapy to those near Tahoe City and Telehealth for anyone based in California.
