Professional statement

Ayesha Lakhani is a Licensed Professional Counselor who is based in Bellaire, Texas just outside of Houston, who works with individuals across the lifespan, with a focus on teens and adults. Many of Ayesha's clients navigate feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression that have become overwhelming, and impact how they show up at school, work and in relationships. She works with clients to explore core beliefs about themselves, others, and the systems they exist within, working together to create strategies tailored for the client and where they are in their journey.

Ayesha's approach focuses on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, so that they can begin to make specific change. She works to help clients identify and understand their physical response to external stressors, and begin to find ways to create calm and peace within themselves, to choose to respond rather than react in the face of change.

Ayesha is focused on ensuring that her clients see real progress: her style is interactive, non-judgmental, and creates a safe place for the client to be an expert of their lives and create change for their future. Ayesha understands the value in exploring past experiences and how they can impact present challenges, and works closely with clients to reframe the narrative of their life in a way that increases self-confidence and compassion.

Message to clients

Drawing on a desire to help people overcome obstacles in their personal relationships, my professional work involves counseling individuals in order to achieve conflict resolution and better communication. As a neutral third party, I am better able to identify the challenges my clients face and facilitate positive change.

Some challenges clients most face is the ability to communicate clearly and without fear of judgement. We tend to impose limiting beliefs on ourselves and create stories that justify our actions. We will work together to separate the false reality we create through our stories and begin operating from your actual reality.

Clients seeking therapy are usually at an impasse or transition in their lives or close relationships. Clients enter into a therapeutic relationship seeking a safe place to express themselves in a non-judgmental environment. We work on finding clarity about what brought you to the impasse and discover what direction you want to move.

Adolescents and young adults are faced with many challenges these days ranging from home life to school life to work life. Having access to social media also contributes to sometimes unexplained behaviors, emotions, and feelings.

Providing adolescents and young adults a safe place to talk, with someone whom they know will not judge them, tends to create an environment of free expression and trust. This allows the client the opportunity to process their desires, fears, and feelings. This process allows them to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and will help build confidence with self-expression.
