Professional statement

Bernadette Wood aka Toni Wood is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that works online with both teens and adults. Many of her clients have received help addressing old, ongoing, negative patterns holding them back from being their true best self. Bernadette is particularly sensitive to those who have suffered trauma and those who identify with Highly Sensitive Person Traits. Bernadette has guided many through the process of processing and letting go of traumas and old messaging, allowing clients to manage both crisis situations and their daily life better.

Bernadette believes in working with clients where they are at the time that they begin therapy. Bernadette utilizes a combination of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Dream Therapy, and Shadow Work to address the concerns that clients bring to session. Bernadette’s approach includes both evidence based and nature based practices. Journaling, worksheets, self-care, and dream work are common tools used to help clients successfully meet their treatment goals.

Bernadette’s priority is working with clients to ensure they feel heard and that their needs are addressed, while motivating them to dig into the deeper roots and connections behind their thoughts and behaviors. Bernadette views you as a partner in your therapy process, and she as the guide through your therapeutic journey. Bernadette has experienced clients moving from unmotivated and stuck in their internal pain/trauma bucket to thriving in their daily lives. Bernadette offers the convenience of online therapy sessions via video, telephone, or chatting. Due to the deep emotional work conducted, Bernadette has a preference of video or telephone sessions over chatting sessions, but Bernadette is comfortable in the format her clients are most comfortable using.

Message to clients

Hi and welcome. I have been a social worker for 27 years, and have worked in the field of social services for over 31 years. I have experience working with adult survivors of child abuse, child neglect, domestic violence, commercial exploitation, and rape. I have experience working with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, divorce, family separation, and caretaker fatigue. I also have experience working with adults dealing with significant life/career changes, and those dealing with crisis situations. I have a laid back approach and am here to support the changes you want to make in your life. I am available nights and weekends and can work with those who have varying or irregular schedules.

I understand how vital support can be during difficult times, and I am here for you. I want to know your story and I want to work with you to help you achieve your therapeutic goals. I want you to feel comfortable sharing your story with me and working with me through the therapeutic modality you feel is most beneficial to you and your support. I will work with you so we can determine your most important concerns and needs and what therapeutic goals you have. I will ensure that we stay on target with those goals so that you have a successful therapeutic process.
