Buffy Curtis is licensed in New York as a Licensed Creative Art Therapist (LCAT), and nationally registered as well as board certified in art therapy. She has over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, working with countless clients to help them improve their wellness. Buffy specializes in working with those who feel overwhelmed with their emotions, whether that’s stress, grief, anxiety, spontaneous spiritual crisis, existential difficulties or feelings tied to physical or medication conditions. Their overwhelm might stem from early childhood trauma, individual traumatic events, early life challenges with attachment or chronic systemic challenges. Buffy provides services for young adults, adults, couples and family groups through the ease of tele-health virtual sessions.
Buffy strives to provide clients with transformational experiences based in whole health, reaching goals for emotional, physical, spiritual and social health. As an art therapist Buffy helps others by guiding them to tap into their own creativity, because sometimes there are no words. She also draws from somatic therapies and often takes a transpersonal attachment oriented approach. For those whose trauma and trauma symptoms hold them back, she practices Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
Buffy earned a Master's degree in Art Therapy Counseling from The College of New Rochelle, she was trained in EMDR by Thrive Counseling and Consulting. She earned her Level Three Reiki practitioner certification from The Remedy Room and is currently pending completion of a Certification in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy from the Vital program of Psychedelics Today. She supports clients along their journeys as they find transformation and growth, encouraging them to use the resources around them to overcome obstacles to wellness
