Professional statement

Dr. Caron Post has been practicing psychotherapy for over 30 years. She  is a licensed clinical psychologist  in Venice, California who helps clients navigate such issues as anxiety, including social anxiety and panic disorders, depression, and relationship concerns; others are grappling with more existential challenges about life’s meaning. Helping clients learn both how to bear and manage difficult states of mind and emotions and then in turn allow those energies to be channelled toward personal transformation is an important part of the work.

Dr. Post works with clients across the lifespan. Some of Dr. Post's clients are young professionals confronting a shift in identity or a life transition. Others are in different phases of life.  Working from a lens has as its foundation psychodynamic and attachment based principles. Other important influences are integrated into her approach including  mindfulness, and somatic based understandings and practices. She helps her clients develop a deeper knowledge of their internal landscape and how that affects their external relationships. That knowledge can be an empowering and effective tool in living life with more joy and satisfaction.

In addition to working with individuals, Dr. Post also welcomes couples to her practice. She helps couples improve the quality of their relationships, by helping them better understand  themselves and each other as well as learning effective communication skills.

She frequently helps couples unravel the roots of disconnect in their relationship, including those pertaining to their respective families of origin. She works with couples of all sexual orientations and genders. She integrates her knowledge across modalities to incorporate various approaches, including psychoanalytic/psychodynamic understandings. and attachment theory and practice, interpersonal neurobiology, She is an based in Los Angeles, and works with many people via videoconferencing. Dr. Post also specializes in emotional resilience, and has given workshops on coping with difficult emotions and states and cultivating one's strengths during the pandemic and these unusually difficult times. She brings these practices into her work with individual clients as well.

Message to clients

I believe that psychotherapy is a process for learning about yourself and healing. It is my hope that through the psychotherapeutic relationship you will learn ways to deal with the difficulties in your life. I work together with patients to form a close collaborative relationship in which they become aware of the underlying sources of their difficulties, learn to work with powerful and uncomfortable emotions, and allow their inner strengths to flourish.
