Collin Pearman is a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Kansas City, MO, who works with individuals, couples, and families across the state of Missouri via video-based services. Many of his clients struggle to feel connected in their relationships or at peace in their daily lives and are at a loss to respond to their symptoms. He’s drawn to those who are the “black sheep” in their family, those on the neurodivergent spectrum, lgbtq+ communities, and those who are looking for purpose, joy, connection. Collin is particularly sensitive to clients facing moments of transition, like the death of a loved one, a change in employment status, breakups, loss of friendships, or traumatic situations, when the delicate balance can seem to tremble, and symptoms of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, shame, and self-doubt can emerge.
Collin’s approach is rooted in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based approach that focuses on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, so that they can begin to make targeted change. He couples this work with concepts from Evolutionary Psychology, working to help clients understand their physical response to external stressors and how these responses may be adaptations or by-products from times long-past that continue to operate on us despite changes in our modern world. He works to help problem-solve ways to introduce moments of calm and improve relationships, to choose to respond rather than react in the face of change and stress.
Collin is focused on ensuring that his clients see real progress: his style is interactive, non-judgmental, and positions clients as the experts on where they are now, and where they want to go. Collin’s first priority in starting with a new client is ensuring that they feel safe, heard, understood, and respected; an equal partner in the therapeutic process.
