Curren Trusty is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor located in Chevy Chase, MD specializing in individual and premarital therapy. She is passionate about providing culturally-competent care for all clients including individuals and couples from marginalized groups and couples composed of partners from differing ethnic, racial, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. Curren's individual clients are often women who have difficulty engaging in self-care as they navigate though life stressors. They may also experience self-doubt and low self-esteem as a result of challenges in their careers and personal lives.
Curren's work with couples focuses on premarital counseling and utilizes the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and the Prepare/ Enrich framework all of which aim to increase intimacy and build healthy communication. Her approach is centered around building empathy and fostering a supportive, affirming, and nurturing environment. She helps couples have heartfelt conversations that lead to a deeper understanding of each other and build a lasting connection based on trust and love. She also helps couples to explore areas of growth and discover ways to address challenges.
In addition to providing premarital counseling services, Curren Trusty extends her expertise to offer non-therapeutic coaching services for individual clients. Curren specializes in empowering women on their self-care journey through personalized coaching. Her approach involves helping women identify and overcome the obstacles that may have impeded their self-care. These women often take care of everyone's needs but their own and feel guilty to take time for themselves, which can lead to resentment and burnout. She helps them to learn how to self-advocate, create boundaries, show themselves compassion, and prioritize themselves.
Curren earned her Master’s degree from Palo Alto University. She believes in treating the whole person, not just a diagnosis. Her nurturing, compassionate personality establishes a safe, secure environment for all clients, no matter the cultural background.
