Danny El Hassan is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor located in Skaneateles, NY. Danny specializes in supporting LGBTQ individuals, older adults, and also individuals who experience anxiety, depression, or OCD. Many of his clients arrive at therapy wanting to learn how to better manage their emotions, which might range from heavy sadness, to intense anger, to feelings of loneliness or longing. Danny’s approach to therapy is integrative including psychodynamic, existential, Rogerian, REBT, and cognitive behavioral. He strives to create a strong therapeutic bond with his clients from their first session, when he gets to know them and learns about their mental health goals. He encourages clients to think about their life goals, their values, and what brings them feelings of fulfillment. He is a strengths-based therapist who believes that each person brings unique traits to the table, and that every client is resilient in their own ways. Clients also practice mindfulness skills to help them stay grounded, especially in the face of overwhelming emotion.
Danny earned a Master’s degree in Psychological Counseling from Columbia University’s Teachers College. He has been published in the Journal of Homosexuality for his work with LGBTQ adults and older adults and has presented on Micro-aggressions experienced by people with disabilities. Danny is a therapist, a researcher, and a writer who enjoys supporting clients through life’s many difficulties.
