Professional statement

Denise Johnson is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Addictions Counselor in North Carolina and a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina. She focuses her practice supporting adult women struggling with alcohol use, anxiety, low self-worth, and life transitions.

Denise works from a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach; she draws from solution-focused brief therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, self-compassion, CBT, and positive psychology to support her clients. She actively pursues continuing education training in order to provide the best possible experience for her clients.

Denise currently offers both in-person at her office in downtown Asheville, NC and virtual sessions for client located in North Carolina and South Carolina. If you would like to work with Denise, the first step is reach out and request a free 15 minute phone consultation. Denise will provide you with dates and times in addition to a brief pre-screen form. If you and Denise decide you will be a good fit together, the next step will be to fill out paperwork and, if you are using insurance, run an insurance verification query. Denise currently works with a third party to process all insurance claims and payments (exception is BCBS) and will typically schedule first the session at least 1 week in advance in order to allow enough time for all paperwork to be completed prior to first session.
