Professional statement

Please note: My chosen name is Devin Hope and I use they/them pronouns.

I am dually licensed in MA and RI but have the majority of my insurance credentialing in MA at this time. Please note that I am currently credentialed with BCBS of RI but ALL OTHER INSURANCE credentials are currently through the state of MA. Please reach out with any questions regarding insurance coverage. My other credentialing in RI is pending.

Prior to my Masters at Boston University, I worked with children (elementary, middle, and high school) as a behavioral specialist and counselor. I have a background in conflict resolution, trauma, group therapy, and parental counseling. Within these schools, the majority of my clientele/students came from newly immigrated families from Mexico. I spent a majority of my time working bilingually with these families to support their transition to America and their children's educational goals. Although I have worked with kids quite a lot, I have recently moved toward working mostly with adults and adolescents.

I have worked in homeless shelters, substance abuse treatment facilities, outpatient clinics, and as a Clinical Supervisor. My general passion lies with couples and the LGBTQ+ community. As a self-identified member of the Queer community, I am passionate about working with this underserved population and creating a safe space where LGBTQ+ people can receive support without having to explain their identity or experience to someone who does not understand or may judge their experience.

My overall work has consisted in treating substance use, relationship issues, women's issues, LGBTQ+, homelessness, domestic violence, anxiety and depression. I specialize in addressing trauma through a psychodynamic, strengths based approach. I also have experience working with CBT, solution focused, and IFS.

Message to clients

I am a LICSW in both RI and MA. My ideal client would be looking for a space where they can grow and be challenged while feeling supported and heard throughout their process. I have worked with children, adolescents, families, couples, and adults with substance use disorders. I have a particular passion for working with Women's/men's issues as well as anyone from the LGBTQ+ community.

Therapy is a very unique relationship because it's a space built solely for the client. I work hard to create an environment which feels safe, judgement free, empowering and unique to the individual while remaining down to earth and genuine. Please feel free to contact me if you believe I might be a good fit for your needs!
